• Dan Curtis was a speed skater with the London Speed Skating Club for many years, and returned to the club with his family. Dan is a Level II coach, and joined our coaching team in 2015-2016. Dan’s commitment to developing technical excellence in our skaters is evident in his creative drills and innovation in blade rocker designs.
  • Susan Scollie has been a member of the club since 2013, and has been coaching on ice since 2018. She enjoys working with our younger skaters and new parents as they begin their journey in short track speed skating, and volunteers with our executive to run our club.
  • Craig Pollock is a Master’s competitive skater who both trains and coaches with our club. His commitment to sport has been lifelong, with past experience in both rowing and biathalon. Craig is an avid cyclist.
  • Ben Ebel is an Elite competitive skater with many years of competition experience. Ben has been coaching on ice for several years, and is one of our club’s coaches with our integrated Special Olympics Program. Ben loves many sports, with experience in soccer, baseball, football, basketball, and skiing.
  • Isabella Martinez is an Elite competitive skater, with previous experience as an in-line racer. Isabella’s insight into skater’s technical abilities, and her ability to encourage skaters of all levels is much appreciated on the ice.
  • Gihyun Ko is an International Referee for Short Track Speed Skating, and a highly experienced international Sports Events and Teams manager. Gi is an Olympic medalist in short track speed skating (2002). Gi has recently joined our coaching team after moving to London in 2024.
  • Matheson Ebel is a retired competitive skater with many years of competition experience. Although he is away at university, you may see Matheson rejoin our group when he is home for a visit.

Coaching Assistants
Several of our club’s intermediate and senior skaters support our coaches and provide weekly mentorship for the beginner and novice skaters, or help out with our seasonal Learn to Speed Skate Program.
